LOS ANGELES – The results of studies conducted by scientists from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) found that surfing in cyberspace for Internet users, middle-aged or older can improve their brain function.
“Members of the old people with experience using minimum Internet, can improve their brain function with surfing in cyberspace.

Even though only briefly, surf events capable of changing patterns of brain activity and improve the performance of its functions, “said Dr Gary Small of the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at UCLA.
Small and his team selecting approximately 24 participants aged between 55 to 78 years. Half of the sample participants had experience using the Internet, while others are not too experienced in the surf.
Having given Internet training, researchers then analyze the brain activity of participants who lack experience. With a special tool, shows that only a short time their brain activity patterns are very similar to those in the advanced group surf. Thus the quoted statement from Xinhua, Tuesday (20/10/2009).
“The results of these studies show that surfing online can be a form of simple exercises that can be applied to improve the recognition capabilities in those middle-aged,” said another researcher Teena D Moody.
According to Moody’s, when searching and browsing the Internet, the ability to remember and explore important information from a picture or word becomes very important. Hence, the brain is triggered to work (thinking) even harder.
